. . .since we last posted any kind of communication to you readers and purveyors of online Jazz information that is InfallibleCollective.com. Apologies for our lack of sensitivity. Rest assured that the band is alive & well and rehearsing as consistently & efficiently as is possible with everyones’ foolishly busy schedules. The band is always exploring new and original compositions as well as the occasional bop-era standard; currently we have been arranging Herbie Hancock’s 1964 soul-jazz groover Cantaloupe Island, and his pre-Headhunters 1962 version of Watermelon Man with a funky interlude so deliciously sick it’s like enjoying thick chocolate fudge cake and a glass of frosty milk with that sexy ex you can’t get out of your mind. The tune is tentatively titled Funky Melons and as it becomes more concrete we will post it on the music page. The band has also been fine-tuning a number that never made it to our first show, Dr. Cratchet’s Ratchet and Doug has composed a beautiful ballad dedicated to his lovely wife entitled Julie’s Calm. If that makes you well up with tears of sensitivity, wait till you see Doug perform it!! Additionally, we have re-vamped the pulse-beating Last Chance to better reflect its bop sensibilities and are currently constructing two new groovers, Super Bad Mode 2000; so-titled for its nod to ’80s fav “Knight Rider”, and Groove Stew; which is best served with a side of freshly baked biscuits. Yes indeed kids, jazz is alive and well, and we invite you all along for the ride.
